Our team embarked on an ambitious project to revolutionize the quality assurance (QA) processes in modern applications developed for digital car sales and user self-service platforms. These platforms are crucial in streamlining how users interact with automotive solutions—simplifying vehicle purchases, enhancing post-purchase services, and empowering users with self-service options.

By focusing on QA, we aimed to ensure these digital tools delivered a seamless and dependable experience. Thanks to our comprehensive approach and advanced methodologies, we achieved milestones that reshaped the way quality is integrated into automotive software.

Challenges

The development of digital car retailing posed several challenges, including:

Complexity of Features: Applications needed to handle a variety of functionalities, from viewing vehicle configurations to booking services, requiring precision in every aspect of execution.
Scalability and Reliability: Solutions had to support a growing user base without compromising on speed, uptime, or reliability.
User Experience: Ensuring intuitive use across a wide range of demographics was critical in creating user trust and satisfaction.

QA Processes Implemented

  • Shift-Left Testing: Emphasizing early defect detection through regression testing, functional testing, and automation.

  • Web Automation: Using Playwright and TypeScript, we created over 70 automated tests covering critical user journeys, scheduled for daily execution across staging and production environments.
  • Mobile Automation: Developed iOS-specific end-to-end tests using XCUITest, ensuring essential functionalities were stable and regression-free during release cycles.
  • API Automation: Crafted scripts to monitor API health and automate data analysis for over 200 dealers, streamlining insights and increasing reliability.

Daily test execution and reporting gave teams quick and actionable feedback, dramatically reducing the time required to identify and resolve defects.

3. Introducing Advanced Tools
We integrated leading tools to enhance testing depth, efficiency, and security.

  • ThunderClient and Postman were configured for API testing, complete with pre- and post-run scripts and integration with AWS Secrets Manager for secure operations.
  • Documentation captured best practices, troubleshooting steps, and test architecture to ensure teams could independently run and build upon the QA framework.

4. Performance Testing
Recognizing the importance of application speed in user experience, we executed performance tests on key journeys to identify and resolve bottlenecks.

Detailed reports outlined problems and implemented solutions, with results showing a 40% reduction in page load times.
